Rhéal Drisdelle, Plan Niger's Country Director
Rhéal Drisdelle comes to Plan Niger as part of a long and distinguished career in international development. Before arriving at Plan, he worked for Oxfam, undertaking several roles across Africa. Additionally, he managed a rehabilitation programme for a Canadian NGO in post-genocide Rwanda that focused on activities such as rebuilding homes and providing access to credit.
Rhéal joined Plan in 2001 as the grants manager in Sierra Leone. There he oversaw resource mobilisation following the 10-year civil conflict. He went on to hold 2 more Plan positions in West Africa where he introduced new programmes in microfinance and disaster readiness and response.
Rhéal has a bachelor‘s degree in political science from the Université de Moncton in Canada.
He said: “The ministries, local authorities and partners here have all spoken with high regard about Plan Niger’s work. Several underlined how we have been facilitating access to education for countless hundreds of children. To me this is an indication of how well Plan works with partners. I am pleased to become part of that team effort.”
