Plan International Guatemala

Plan International has been working in Guatemala for over 40 years on the issues that most affect girls and young women. We are working to end poverty and we advocate for the rights of Guatemala’s young people.

To achieve these goals, we work alongside civil society, local and regional governments, non-governmental organisations, and girls and young women.

We currently work in over 608 rural communities in 5 Guatemalan Departments (Jalapa, Quiché, Alta Verapaz, Baja Verapaz and Escuintla) to improve the lives of over 91,000 children and young people.

Our priorities include:

  • Supporting children to access and complete a quality, inclusive and comprehensive secondary education
  • Keeping girls safe from all forms of violence
  • Supporting girls to maintain good sexual and reproductive health
  • Helping girls and young women develop the skills they need to get good jobs or start their own businesses.
