Plan Zimbabwe works with a number of networks and alliances at various levels.
At the national level, we participate in the National Victim Friendly Unit (VFU), and the Child Protection Working Group (CPWG) hosted by the UN's Office of the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA).
The VFU's focus is on ensuring that the justice delivery system is child friendly while CPWG's is on ensuring that child protection is prioritised in all humanitarian crises.
Within our programme unit areas, we partner with the Child Protection Committees in ensuring that children enjoy their rights unhindered. The results have been encouraging as there is an increase in the number of child abuse cases that are being reported and dealt with by the authorities.
We also partner with interest groups such the Union for the Development of Apostolic Churches in Zimbabwe (Africa) (UDACIZA) to ensure that the indigenous African churches' doctrines uphold and respect the principles enshrined in the UN's Convention on the Rights of the Child, thereby stopping some of their harmful practices such as child marriages.
With the Zimbabwe Parents of Disabled Children, the partnership is on mainstreaming disability in all of our programmes, within the framework of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.
