Plan Burkina Faso's Country Director, Mark Wentling

Mark Wentling joined Plan as country director in Burkina Faso in 2011. While new to Plan, Mark has more than 40 years experience living and doing development work in Africa, most recently for USAID.

With an undergraduate degree in political science, history and anthropology from Wichita State, and a master’s degree from Cornell in international agriculture development, Mark brings a new focus and leadership to the team in Burkina.

He believes development should achieve lasting, self-sustaining improvements to the quality of life and respects dignity, especially children. He is committed to helping children, especially girls, achieve through accessing their right to education and healthcare.

In addition to English, he is proficient in French and has learned Portuguese, Spanish, Ewe, Hausa and Kiswahili.
