In November 2019, Plan International and The Body Shop launched a new parternship with equality for girls and young women at its heart.
Dreaming big across the world
Plan International and The Body Shop’s joint campaign ‘Dream Big’ is supporting girls in Brazil and Indonesia to access the resources they need to thrive and be empowered to take control of their own lives. From vocational training and leadership skills to youth entrepreneurship and safe spaces online we are creating opportunities for girls and young women to realise their rights, access their potential and dream big for a safe and equal future.
In Brazil, the ‘A brighter future for girls’ project will deliver vocational training and leadership skills to girls and young women in North-eastern Brazil. Upon completion of their training, they will go on to train adolescent girls on gender equality, female economic empowerment and leadership.
Alongside the vocational training, the project’s outreach activities will include online and community-based campaigns, and peer-mentoring, to reach girls and young women in an area where 60% of the country’s unemployed young people live.
In Indonesia the partnership project will focus on supporting young people to enter employment in a safe and decent environment. In a country where only 52% of all women are in employment, we will provide training and enterprise support to young people.
By empowering young people to earn a safe, decent living through small businesses focussing on environmental sustainability we ensure young people have the opportunity to build a better future for themselves and the planet.
Supporting our partnership
Throughout November and December 2019, The Body Shop are donating 1.8p (GBP) on every transaction globally in support of these projects. The goal is to raise £250,000 to support 1,500 girls in Indonesia and Brazil to achieve their dream job or start up their dream business.
