Global hair cosmetic brand Schwarzkopf have joined forces with us to ensure girls and young women can reach their full potential.
Our partnership is part of Schwarzkopf’s ‘Million Chances’ initiative which aims to empower girls and women around the world to build a successful personal and professional future.
Every young women should have the chance to turn her ambitions and dreams into realities.
Every young women should have the chance to turn her ambitions and dreams into realities, no matter where or how she grew up. However, without an education and the prospect of employment, many young women do not have the opportunity to do so.
Together our vision is to give girls and young women a successful start in life and so catering to their needs at different stages in life, our partnership incorporates three projects:
Girls' empowerment in China – In many rural areas of China girls often drop out of school to help their parents at home or because the sanitary conditions in schools are very bad. This project focuses on establishing girl friendly spaces and girl groups in primary schools while also renovating washrooms to improve hygiene conditions.
Vocational training in Egypt – With an unemployment rate of 40% in Egypt, entry into working life, especially for women, is very difficult. This project focuses on providing young women in Egypt with vocational training to prepare them for the labour market.
Women building the future in Colombia – In Colombia 20% of young people are unemployed. Often girls do not have access to education, get pregnant when they are very young and do jobs without being paid. This project trains young women to be entrepreneurs, encouraging them to start their own businesses and therefore to be financially independent.
