In his 18 year career, Mr Alam has responded to some of the biggest emergencies and conflicts and specialises in cash based programmes.
Mr Alam provides technical support on cash and voucher programming and conducts situational assessments on the feasibility of programmes. He also analyses markets, monitors cash and voucher projects and builds the capacity of Plan International staff.
Since joining Plan International in 2013 he has been deployed to respond to the Nepal earthquake, typhoon Haiyan, floods in Bangladesh and conflicts in Mali, South Sudan and Ethiopia.
Mr Alam also has expertise in disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, resilience, resource mobilisation, project management, planning and communications, child protection and sustainable livelihoods.
He has worked with the European Union (DGECHO), Islamic Relief Worldwide, United Nations Development Programme, Department of International Development funded projects, Ministry of Rural Development, India and Caritas India over the course of his career.
Mr Alam has an MBA in Rural Development Management, an MSc in Disaster Mitigation and an MSc in Ecology and Environment.
