Learning toys production guide

This guide supports early childhood workers and parents to develop play and learning materials from low-cost, local and recycled materials in settings where there are limited resources.

This guide supports early childhood workers and parents to develop play and learning materials from low-cost, local and recycled materials in settings where there are limited resources. It specifically targets early childhood centre caregivers, pre-school and kindergarten teachers, and parents.

Starting with sections that explain the importance of play for child development and how children can learn through play, the guide then provides ideas on developing home play materials for children under the age of 4, and learning centre materials for pre-schoolers aged 4 to 6 years of age. Guidance is provided to ensure that the play materials do not reinforce gender stereotypes.
