Toolbox: Integrated Child Protection and Food Security Programming in Humanitarian Action

This is a collection of handy tools to support child protection and food security humanitarian actors when designing, implementing and evaluating integrated Child Protection and Food Security programs in humanitarian settings.

Report cover.

Children are disproportionately affected by food insecurity in humanitarian crises.

Limited access to food not only undermines their survival and well-being but also heightens child protection risks, such as child labor and child marriage.

While humanitarian actors have long acknowledged the need to work across sectors, concrete resources to support integrated Child Protection (CP) and Food Security (FS) programming have been scarce.

To bridge this gap, the Global Food Security Cluster, the Global Child Protection Area of Responsibility, Plan International, and other partners developed the CP–FS Toolbox.

Developed in response to practitioner needs, it is a collection of practical, adaptable tools designed to help child protection and food security actors plan, implement, and evaluate integrated programs in humanitarian settings.

Practitioners are encouraged to apply, adapt, and provide feedback to strengthen its relevance and effectiveness.
