As we approach the COP29 climate negotiations, the world is experiencing yet another record-breaking year of intensifying climate change.

The future of today’s children and youth, the largest generation in history, depends on bold commitments and action at COP29.

Children and youth, particularly girls and young women, are on the frontlines of the climate crisis. They are also leaders in developing effective responses and adaptation strategies to build resilience.

The impact of climate change on girls and young women

The climate crisis is already having a significant impact on the lives and livelihoods of children and youth, especially girls and young women, around the world, limiting economic and educational opportunities, impacting health, nutrition access to sexual and reproductive rights services, and increasing the risk of gender-based violence and early and forced marriage.

The climate crisis is the greatest intergenerational injustice of our time. The future of today’s children and youth, the largest generation in history, depends on bold commitments and action at COP29.
