Overview
Community action for child protection – Global guidance on community-based child-protection mechanisms
Freedom from violence is a fundamental human right.
Ending all forms of violence, abuse and exploitation against children is now a global priority in the new Sustainable Development Goals. This is a significant achievement and will help secure a future in which every child can grow up happy, healthy, resilient, well-educated, culturally sensitive and effectively protected.
The community action for child protection guidance has been developed in consultation with Plan International staff across the world.
Its aims are:
- to define what community-based child protection mechanisms are and are not, including their roles and responsibilities
- to set out guiding principles for external support to community-based child protection
- to propose criteria for good practice in supporting community-based child protection in development and emergency settings.
