The group had the chance to meet with the president in the city of São Luís, accompanied by the Program Director, Luca Sinesi, and talked for a brief moment with Dilma, explaining the reasons why they took this initiative and handing the declaration to the President, who congratulated them. The meeting ended with an official photo taken by the Presidency’s photographer.
The Declaration of the Girls from Brazil was written in May by girls from the 5 regions of the country as part of the program This is My Moment. As for the meeting with the president, it came as a result of the negotiations headed by the Advocacy and Child Protection Technical Manager, Flavio Debique, with the Federal Government.
The next step is also big: the program This is My Moment will take the girls to the UN General Assembly in September, and the goal is to insert their claims in the discussion of the Sustainable Development Goals for the world post-2015.
