Rapid needs assessment for COVID-19 early recovery plan in Nepal

Plan International Nepal's rapid needs assessment will inform its ongoing work to support communities to recover from the COVID-19 pandemic.

Plan International Nepal has carried out a rapid needs assessment for its early recovery plan for COVID-19.

The assessment report is based on a review of documents from organisations working on the COVID-19 response and recovery. In addition, 5 key informant interviews were carried out with the EU Delegation to Nepal, UK Department for International Development, Nepal Institute for Social and Environmental Research, and Plan International Nepal. Similarly, an interview with a chairperson and representative of the Local Disaster Risk Management Committee in the Makwanpur district was carried out.

Plan International Nepal has been responding to the COVID-19 pandemic since March 2020, reaching more than 150,000 people in its working areas with its key focus on raising awareness, supporting vulnerable families and empowering girls and young women impacted by the crisis.

We will develop our recovery plan based on the rapid needs assessment report for our future interventions to support COVID-19 affected families and communities.

The report has identified protection, health and wellbeing, economic security, education and skills development, and water, sanitation and hygiene as key areas in the recovery from the pandemic.
