In the first year of our 5 year country strategy we impacted the lives of about 200,000 girls through programmes dedicated to equality to girls.

The girls who participated in our programme have become bolder and louder in order to obtain the freedom to continue their education and learn skills. In 2018 we also implemented several projects that addressed the root causes of child marriage.

Girls Takeover has become synonymous with Plan International, providing an opportunity to raise girls’ voices on the issues that matter to them. In Nepal, 300 girls ran tadio talk shows with policy makes and leaders, asking for commitments on gender equality.

In 2018 we opened a new office in the Karnali Region, a remote area of West Nepal. We started working in the region with local government bodies to support communities to change some harmful norms and behaviours.

We have completed our work responding to the earthquakes that struck Nepal in 2015 and are gradually handing over these projects to communities. Through our 3 year response in 4 districts, we reached 295,411 people, including 120,345 children.
