Meet Plan International’s Global Youth Ambassadors
Plan International’s Global Youth Ambassadors form an inclusive and diverse group of young leaders, united by a shared commitment to advance girls’ and young women’s rights.
From driving action for a more climate resilient planet to challenging gender-based violence and defending the rights of children with disabilities, these young activists are speaking out, mobilising their communities, and pushing for lasting change.
Each year, around 20 young advocates from 10 countries from all continents where Plan International is active, will be selected to join the Global Youth Ambassadors Programme.
About the Global Youth Ambassadors programme
The challenge
Over 85% of the global population and more than 90% of the world’s youth live in countries across Africa, Asia and Latin America. Which means the future of our world is shaped by the fate of the same youth. However, the voices of young people in these vibrant, fast changing regions are often silenced. As they encounter a wall of compounding barriers that keep them from speaking up, protecting their rights and having a seat at the table where policy is decided and decisions are made.
Over the period of 2026-2028, the Global Youth Ambassadors programme aims to amplify the voices of youth leaders, to show the world what is possible when young people are heard, supported and empowered. To shape a more just and equal world.
The approach
This three-year Global Youth Ambassadors programme facilitates passionate young changemakers with the skills, knowledge, and support they need to drive impact locally and globally. Each year, new ambassadors aged 15–25 join a dynamic network that connects them with peers from around the world.
Through (bi-)weekly online meetings, they strengthen their advocacy capacity and build practical knowledge on rights, media, and project cycle management. They also participate in advocacy spaces and events, including UN-level opportunities. Alongside this, ambassadors develop and implement their own local advocacy projects, contribute to social accountability, and take part in youth-led monitoring and evaluation to reflect on progress and showcase the impact of their work.
