“I want to change the future of my two daughters”
In many parts of the Northern areas of Vietnam, girls often get married off between 14 to 15 years old, sometimes even earlier to lessen the family's financi…
Ensuring vulnerable children enjoy the best start in life.
Plan International Vietnam is a leading specialist in early childhood care, an area that is still a cornerstone for our work.
In the isolated areas of the country where we operate, nutrition and reproductive health are major factors impacting the health and wellbeing of children.
Using the integrated management of acute malnutrition (IMAM) and HEBI (a locally produced, ready-to-use therapeutic food), our nutrition pilot programmes are ensuring that severely and moderately malnourished children in selected communes in Quang Binh and Quang Ngai provinces are able to rehabilitate properly.
We are partnering with village birth attendants in Ha Giang province to increase the number of deliveries attended by a skilled birth attendant. We also ensure that all such attendants have access to ongoing training. We believe this will result in safer delivery conditions in the communities where we work.
Our strong partnerships with communities mean that out of 379 villages, 83 (22%) have so far been declared open defecation free.
