Turning the World Around
Insight from over 1000 participants into what it's like to be a girl or young woman activist leading the fight for equality today!
Plan International’s earliest presence in Vietnam dates to 1954 and we became established in the northern and central regions in 1993.
In Vietnam, vulnerable groups suffer discrimination, especially girls and children with disabilities. This is driven by social traditions combined with a lack of access to services and investment.
Plan International Vietnam (PIV) has worked across six provinces (Lai Chau, Ha Giang, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Kon Tum and Hanoi) in a total of 62 rural communes of 13 remote districts with its sponsorship and grant-funded projects. Since 2020, PIV has implemented over 80 grant and sponsorship-funded projects, including emergency and response activities such as targeted support during the COVID-19 period, 2020 flood response in central Vietnam, and 2023 Yagi Typhoon in North provinces of Vietnam.
We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected.
Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face.
We won’t stop until we are all equal.
