Stories of Change – 'Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance' Project Film
The 'Zurich Climate Resilience Alliance' Project focuses on enhancing climate resilience for vulnerable communities in disaster-prone areas and strengthening local authorities' capacity to implement climate policies.
Flooding is one of the most dangerous and damaging climate-related hazards, responsible for around two-thirds of all deaths and significant economic losses caused by natural disasters in Vietnam.
Plan International Vietnam is a member of the Zurich Flood Resilience Alliance, a multi-sectorial partnership focusing on finding practical ways to help communities in developed and developing countries strengthen their resilience to flood risk.
For 2 years of project implementation, ZFRA have:
- Provided the first aid and rescue training to 420 members of community response team, 360 people of flood exposure areas, and 360 educators.
- Provided the knowledge to 42,245 people to apply the solutions of enhance the flood resilience.
- 35,000 people are able to access to early warning system and have the early action before disaster occurred.
- 1,238 people in 6 project locations got access to Village Saving Loan (VSL) fund for disaster preparedness thanks to 69 VSL group established.
- 1,260 children got access to comprehensive disaster risk reduction school safety framework
Phase 2 of the Project (2024-2027) will focus on enhancing climate resilience for vulnerable communities in disaster-prone areas and strengthening local authorities’ capacity to implement climate policies. Importantly, children and youth are empowered as key agents of change in building safer and more sustainable communities.
