Education in Lebanon

We promote accessible, safe and quality education opportunities which support the healthy development of children, adolescents, and youth, and allow them to thrive.

We support children and young people to learn the skills they need to improve their lives as they grow up. In particular we target:

  • Vulnerable children (aged 0-17 years) and young people aged 18-24 years
  • Parents and caregivers of vulnerable children and young people
  • Key community stakeholders such as youth groups, community leaders, religious leaders and teachers
  • Decision-makers, influencers, partner organisations and other public and private service providers.

Supporting children to learn

Our work on education in Lebanon includes a number of major activities such as psychosocial support, life skills, basic literacy and numeracy. Our work includes:

  • Promoting safe and inclusive formal and non-formal education for at-risk children aged 6-17,
  • Promoting safe and inclusive technical and vocational training for at-risk adolescents and young people (18-25 years),
  • Supporting the successful transition of children and young people to formal education or employment,
  • Advocating for inclusive and quality education for all, including refugee children.

Reconnecting children to learning and well-being

Back to the Future 6 (BTF 6) is giving children in the Beqaa a renewed chance to learn, feel safe, and imagine a better future. Funded by the European Union (ECHO), the project is implemented by Plan International Lebanon in partnership with Hand Organization, as part of a consortium with AVSI Foundation and Terre des Hommes (TDH), and is active in Majdel Anjar and Qabb Elias.

BTF 6 supports out-of-school children through Non-Formal Education (NFE) programmes that help them reconnect with learning while addressing the protection risks associated with displacement, poverty, and social exclusion. By combining education with child protection and psychosocial support, the project creates safe and nurturing learning environments that strengthen children’s well-being and resilience.

Through this integrated approach, BTF 6 not only helps children return to education but also ensures they are protected, supported, and empowered to build safer, more hopeful futures.
