Adolescent girls’ and boys’ needs in West Bekaa and Mount Lebanon

This needs assessment looks at the education and protection needs of adolescent Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese communities in West Bekaa and Mount Lebanon.

The protracted Syrian refugee crisis, the current socio-economic and financial crisis, the COVID-19 outbreak and the recent Beirut explosion, have severely impacted the lives of all Syrian refugees and vulnerable Lebanese, specifically adolescents.

Plan International’s needs assessment analyses the education and protection needs of Syrian refugee and vulnerable Lebanese communities in West Bekaa and Mount Lebanon, focusing on adolescent girls and boys and their families.

The assessment presents insightful findings on the complex impact of the current multiple crises on vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugee adolescents. It shows severe gaps in the provision of safe and quality education and a protective environment for adolescents, particularly girls, older adolescents and Syrians, with long-term effects in sight.
