Education in emergencies – Ukraine

Photo collection of Plan International education work in Ukraine and host countries
22 March 2023

On the occasion of the Education in Emergencies High Level Conference (Brussels, 22 March), Plan International EU shares a photo exhibition dedicated to education programmes for children from Ukraine.

The war in Ukraine has impacted on the education of 70% of children in the country, seriously affecting their well-being now and in the future. Due to the conflict, 1 in every 5 schools have been destroyed. The work of Plan International and our partners focuses on ensuring that children have uninterrupted access to safe, inclusive and quality education. Within this work, we have four goals:

  1. End attacks on education
  2. Promote face-to-face learning, when it is safe to do so
  3. Create education plans that are inclusive to displaced children
  4. International actors and donors should support education programmes as a main component of reconstruction and rehabilitation in Ukraine, and a platform for social cohesion and integration in host countries

On the occasion of the Education in Emergencies High Level Conference (Brussels, 22 March), we highlight the importance of education through a selection of photographs taken in Ukraine, Moldova, Poland and Romania.
