European Humanitarian Forum: Plan International Priorities

14 March 2022

Emergencies, Child protection in emergencies, Education in emergencies, Gender-based violence

The first European Humanitarian Forum, taking place on 21-23 March 2022, brings together policy makers, humanitarian partners and other stakeholders, for a more sustained dialogue on humanitarian policy and strategy.

As an organisation with EU-funded humanitarian programmes in 20 countries around the world at the time of writing, Plan International welcomes the Forum and looks forward to discussing with our donors and partners how we can better prevent crises, as well as support people caught up in them, particularly girls and young women who are amongst the most affected groups.

Plan International appreciates the opportunity to hold an active role within the Forum, particularly by our involvement in sessions on preventing, mitigating and responding to gender-based violence in emergencies, as well as further prioritising access to safe, quality and inclusive education during a crisis.

In anticipation to the Forum, we have prepared a short document setting out our position and key recommendations for the following areas covered by the European Humanitarian Forum 2022:

  • Gender-based violence in emergencies
  • Education in emergencies
  • Hunger and conflict
  • The humanitarian impact of climate change
