About Plan International EU

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls. We believe in the power and potential of every child but know this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And it is girls who are most affected. For over 85 years, we have rallied other determined optimists to transform the lives of all children in more than 80 countries.

The Plan International EU Liaison Office works to influence EU external policies and programmes through an integrated approach bringing together advocacy, communications and funding, based on the priorities of girls and young women themselves.

Working together with children, young people, supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges girls and vulnerable children face. We support children’s rights from birth until they reach adulthood and we enable children to prepare for and respond to crises and adversity. We drive changes in practice and policy at local, national and global levels using our reach, experience and knowledge.

We raise our voice, and the voices of the children and communities we work with as experts in the issues that affect them, combining evidence-based advocacy with bold, impactful campaigning and communications.

According to the EU’s own treaties, one of its principle objectives is the promotion and realisation of human rights, including children’s rights, around the world. When we see deficiencies and contradictions in EU policies, practice and programmes that negatively impact on children’s rights, we speak out. By providing a critical analysis of the EU’s proposals, we push for the changes we want to see.

We won’t stop until we are all equal.
