Pledge for Change: the future of aid

A Pledge for Change in the humanitarian sector has been signed by five INGOs, including Plan International as one of the co-signers. After a two-year effort, the Pledge for Change has been announced by Adeso, a humanitarian and development organisation in Somalia, alongside other INGOs who have come together to push our sector forward.
Pledge for Change is about our commitment to implement meaningful and definite change with equitable partnerships, authentic storytelling and through influencing wider change.
Among others, signatories believe that it is crucial to create partnerships with local agencies and support more responsibility and decision-making by them, so that there is not a strong dependency on humanitarian aid agencies, and the work implemented has longevity.
