The EC as a donor

The European Commission (EC) is one of Plan International’s main institutional donors, providing funding through three Directorates General (DGs): DG INTPA, DG ECHO and DG NEAR.

Where do we work?

In March 2022, Plan International has 46 EU-funded active projects spanning across 33 countries: in Bangladesh, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Egypt, El Salvador, Ethiopia, Guatemala, Guinea, Haiti, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Laos, Lebanon, Malawi, Mali, Mexico, Mozambique, Nepal, Niger, Nigeria, Papua New Guinea, Peru, Philippines, Senegal, South Sudan, Thailand, Togo, Vietnam, Zambia, Zimbabwe.

What do we work on?

In 2021, the main focus of our INTPA and NEAR programmes was on civil society & governance; education skills and employment; green issues; health; migration; and peace & security.

The same year, our ECHO work focused on disaster and risk reduction (DRR), protection services, and education in emergencies while mainstreaming child protection in emergencies, as well as gender-based violence components.

Funding received by the EC

During the 2017-2021 period, Plan International received a total of € 90.876.608 for our INTPA/NEAR work, as well as a total of € 60,421,429.13 for our ECHO work.
