Plan International condemns sexual violence against girls in Al Jazirah, Sudan
We are deeply disturbed by the continued use of sexual violence against women and girls, amidst a conflict that is showing no signs of yielding.
We are committed to ensuring that vulnerable children, especially girls, live in communities that are free from all forms of violence, traditional harmful practices and discrimination so they are able to make key decisions about their bodies and lives.
We are working to change the deeply-rooted behaviors of parents and communities that put girls at risk and stop them from following their ambitions.
As part of this, we support community-led action that challenges harmful practices which undermine the wellbeing, dignity and rights of girls.
We are also supporting girls and young women to gain the skills and access the spaces they need to be able to make key decisions about their bodies and lives.
Our advocacy efforts in this area focus on changing laws and policies to ban female genital mutilation and child marriage in collaboration with civil society organisations and other partners.
