Plan International Ukraine

Plan International works together with children, young people, supporters, and partners to strive for a just world, where we are all equal.

Since August 2022 we’ve worked in the Ukraine to deliver immediate humanitarian aid to children and their families affected by the war that has caused thousands of civilian casualties, widespread destruction and has forced millions to flee their homes. More than 7.8 million refugees from Ukraine have fled to neighbouring countries and 6.5 million more are displaced internally.

We work alongside Ukraine’s strong civil society organisations focusing on internally displaced persons, those returning to the country and communities in the newly accessible areas of Kharkiv, Mykolaiv, and Kherson Oblasts.

We ensure our work in Ukraine promotes gender equality and emphasises the social cohesion and inclusion of internally displaced people across the country.

Beyond the direct life-saving humanitarian support we provide, we continue working with and through local organisations to support children’s rights and equality for girls in Ukraine.

Our current priorities include:

  • Preventing violence against children
  • Providing psychological support for children who have suffered distress
  • Ensuring refugee children can continue their education
  • Transferring cash to help families meet their immediate needs.

Our work in Ukraine is part of a regional response to the Ukraine crisis which also includes programmes in PolandMoldova and Romania
