Artbook by Patchwork Association
This artbook is a collection of drawings created by Polish and Ukrainian children both with and without disabilities published by Patchwork Association.
This book is the result of a joint project run by the Patchwork Association and Plan International Poland “Supporting Children with disabilities from Ukraine and host communities to thrive in a safe and protective environment in Krakow.”
It brings together stories of children from diverse backgrounds, both with and without disabilities. Their stories are enriched by illustrations of the young authors. It is published to demonstrate that everyone matters and that we are not as different as one may think. When we look deeper, we discover that we have more in common than what divides us.
The Patchwork Association in Krakow hosted several art workshops in June and July 2024, bringing together children from Poland and Ukraine, both with and without disabilities and special needs as well as neurotypical children. Under the guidance of art therapists, they created themed works ‘How I see my future’ and ‘Landscape of my dreams.’ Some children, however, were drawing what they felt close to at the time. The drawings were accompanied by short texts, written by the children themselves or with the help of their parents if their assistance was needed.
The Patchwork Association was founded by 6 immigrant women who are mothers of children with disabilities and/or special needs and specialise in special education. The organisation supports struggling families, including those with refugee experience.
Since 2022, in response to the war in Ukraine, Plan has been actively involved in activities in Poland, Ukraine, Moldova and Romania, working in the areas of humanitarian aid, child protection, mental health, education, gender-based violence prevention and sexual and reproductive health rights. Plan Poland’s strategic ambition is to amplify and add value to civil society partners’ integrated humanitarian programming, aimed at reducing the vulnerabilities and risks that refugees and conflict affected people are facing in Poland, targeting girls, young people in all their diversity and minority or non-dominant groups, to increase their resilience, wellbeing and agency.

Ця книга була створена завдяки спільному проекту Товариства Patchwork та Фонду Plan International Poland «На підтримку дітей з інвалідністю з України та приймаючої спільноти задля їх добробуту в безпечному та сприятливому середовищі у місті Краків». У цій книзі зібрані історії дітей з різних верств суспільства, як з інвалідністю, так і без неї. Їхні розповіді збагачені ілюстраціями, зробленими самими юними авторами й авторками. Мета видання – показати, що кожна людина є важливою, а відмінності між нами не такі значні, як може здатися. Коли подивитися глибше, то виявляємо, що маємо більше спільного, ніж того, що нас розділяє.У червні та липні 2024 року у Товаристві Patchwork у Кракові відбулося кілька майстер-класів, які об’єднали дітей з Польщі та України, які живуть з інвалідністю та особливими потребами, так і без них, а також за участі нейротипових дітей. Під керівництвом двох арттерапевтів вони створювали роботи на тему «Яким я бачу своє майбутнє» та «Пейзаж моєї мрії», проте деякі діти намалювали те, що було їм близьким на той момент. Малюнки супроводжувалися короткими текстами, написаними дітьми самостійно або за допомогою батьків, якщо була потрібна їхня допомога.
Товариство Patchwork було засновано шістьма жінками-іммігрантками, які є матерями дітей з інвалідністю та/або особливими потребами та спеціальною педагогинею. Організація підтримує сім’ї, які борються з труднощами, в тому числі людей з досвідом біженства.
Починаючи з 2022 року, у відповідь на війну в Україні, Plan International активно займається діяльністю, що охоплює Польщу, Україну, Молдову та Румунію, працюючи у сферах гуманітарної допомоги, захисту дітей, психічного здоров’я, освіти, протидії гендерно зумовленому насильству та права на сексуальне та репродуктивне здоров’я. Стратегічною метою цієї організації є посилення та підвищення цінності комплексних гуманітарних програм партнерів у громадянському суспільстві, спрямованих на зменшення вразливості та ризиків, з якими стикаються біженці та постраждалі від конфлікту люди в Польщі, й орієнтованих на дівчат, молодь у всьому їхньому розмаїтті, а також на меншини та недомінуючі групи, з метою підвищення їхньої життєстійкості, добробуту та розширення прав і можливостей.
