Rapid Gender Analysis in Sudan
This Rapid Gender Analysis provides a snapshot of the challenges faced by adolescent girls and boys in Tawilla and Dar El Salam, North Darfur.
The analysis, conducted in October 2025, highlights how conflict, displacement, and entrenched gender norms limit safety, mobility, education, and access to services.

Using surveys, community mapping, and discussions with adolescents and local leaders, it highlights how conflict, displacement, and entrenched gender norms limit safety, mobility, education and access to services.
Girls face severe protection risks – including gender-based violence, early marriage, and restricted movement – while boys experience pressure to support their families, exposure to hazardous labour, and rising stress.
Overall, the findings show a critical lack of protection systems, functioning health and education services, and youth‑friendly support.
The analysis aims to guide more gender‑responsive, inclusive, and adolescent‑focused humanitarian and development programming.
