Our delivery approach

All our country offices as well as the Regional Hub in the Middle East and Eastern and Southern Africa incorporate partnerships as the main delivery approach for programmes and influencing work at local, national and regional levels. We work with national civil societies, community-based organisations and government agencies.

Our delivery approach is focused on working with partners to create system changes that will benefit children and young people in the Middle East, Eastern and Southern Africa region.

Our delivery approach principles

  • Partnership: The region works closely with a range of partners, including governments, civil society organisations, businesses, and communities to achieve country goals.
  • Community involvement: Our programmes are designed and implemented in consultation & collaboration with communities to ensure that the programmes are responsive to the needs of the people they are intended to serve.
  • Influencing: The region works to systematically plan, coordinate and integrate activities that seek to change the behaviour of one or more decision-makers to achieve development outcomes for children and girls.
  • Empowerment: The region works to empower children & young people to participate in decision-making and to hold their leaders accountable.
  • Accountability: We are committed to being accountable to our partners, beneficiaries, and donors with a number of mechanisms in place to ensure that programmes are effective and resources are used efficiently.

Our delivery approach strategies

  • Systems change: We work towards changing the systems that prevent children and young people from reaching their full potential. This includes advocating for laws and policies that protect children’s rights and working to change social norms and attitudes that are harmful to children.
  • Early childhood development: We invest in early childhood development programmes because they have a long-term impact on children’s well-being.
  • Gender equality: We are committed to promoting gender equality and the empowerment of girls and young women and this is reflected in all country programmes and initiatives.
  • Sustainability: We ensure programmes are sustainable and can be replicated by others.
