All armed groups must respect the neutrality and independence of humanitarian actors
19 May 2025Plan International is aware that our signage was recently featured in a video posted to social media by members of an armed group in one of our programme areas in El Obeid, North Kordofan state.
As a child rights and humanitarian organisation working in over 7 states in Sudan, Plan International has been and remains a neutral and independent organisation working to support children and all communities in need.
We prioritise the safety and well-being of children in conflict and crisis situations, adhering to the Humanitarian Principles of humanity, neutrality, impartiality, and independence.
We urge all armed groups to respect the neutrality and independence of humanitarian actors and to refrain from using or referencing our signage in their public messaging.
