This report describes key strategies and results from Plan International’s Women and Their Children’s Health (WATCH) project, implemented with the Canadian government’s support in Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Zimbabwe.

This report describes strategies and results from Plan International’s Women and Their Children’s Health (WATCH) project, implemented with the Canadian government’s support over 3.5 years in 5 countries: Bangladesh, Ethiopia, Ghana, Mali and Zimbabwe.

The project aimed to reduce maternal, neonatal and child mortality among underserved populations, through increasing the use of evidence-based practices among families and community members and support for strengthened healthcare systems.

Overall the project helped 282,537 women in WATCH-supported areas to access and utilise health services, while an estimated 590,676 children received critical vaccinations and/or oral rehydration therapy.

The report explains the project’s context, planning and implementation, cross-cutting themes and priorities, success factors, as well as lessons learned.
