Plan International Kenya is committed to ensuring communities have access to a sustainable and dignified livelihoods.
Through our work, we address issues such as low income, food insecurity, environmental degradation, high youth unemployment, over dependency on unreliable rainfall, poor farming methods and disaster vulnerability.
To address the gaps in achieving sustainable livelihoods, we enable communities to access information and resources about improved farming methods, marketing initiatives, crop handling and storage and environmental conservation. We also support communities to learn business skills and promote village savings and loans groups.
During emergencies, we ensure that affected communities have access to relief supplies and support them to bounce back through recovery initiatives like seed and small livestock provision, coupled with Disaster Risk Reduction measures.
