Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.
Plan International has been working in Egypt since 1981 following an agreement with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and under the supervision of the Ministry of Social Solidarity.
Our mission is to support children and young people to realise their full potential by addressing issues relating to gender, education, employment, protection and social cohesion.
We work in 10 governorates, Cairo, Giza, Kalyoubya, Alexandria, Beheira, Damiatee, Assuit, Sohag, Quena and Aswan.
We won’t stop until we are all equal.
Our current priorities include:
Promoting sexual reproductive health rights, services, and facilities so that girls and women can realise their rights and grow up capable of making informed decisions and choices.
Creating economic empowerment opportunities and spaces so that girls, children, and young people can overcome barriers that hinder their own development and continue growing up as empowered citizens capable of leading their own development.
Combating violence against children, girls, and women so that they can grow up in safe environments and actively participate in making positive and lasting changes in their lives and communities at large.
Strengthening resilience, enhancing preparedness, and improving the response of marginalised communities including refugees and migrants to climate change, crises, and natural disasters. This will also include tackling the root causes of irregular migration.
Promoting the active engagement and leadership of young people including girls in decision-making and inclusive spaces to foster sustainable changes in their lives as equal and empowered citizens.
