Education in the Dominican Republic

Providing adolescents and young people with a quality education and skills for life.

Plan International Dominican Republic has years of experience in the education sector. We are using our expertise to encourage children and young people between the ages of 6 and 14 to stay in school and develop skills for life in safe learning environments.

We continue to set up family guidance groups and work together with teaching staff to promote safer schools. We also partner with councils and communities to support the development and implementation of education initiatives.

Our Spaces for Learning initiative has been a great success, allowing primary school children to develop essential reading, writing and maths skills, enabling them to remain in education.

We also provide teacher training focusing on specific areas such as gender and human rights. We also provide practical tools for teachers to implement these inclusive approaches during their lessons.
