Hi all, my name is Maria and I'm from Aileu, Timor-Leste! I'm 17 and I have the dream to become the ambassador of Timor-Leste in Brazil.
I am involved in a group of action for children, by children in my community. We speak mainly about child protection. We debate on the challenges we face in our country, and try to find solutions. I also participate in a church group as scouting. Finally, I take part in a student council, where we have the opportunity to add on to what is said by the teachers.
I hope for a future where girls and boys move away from violence
My family givse me great support to be educated and in my other activities for child protection as well. They were especially proud when I won the public speaking competition at chool last year.
I hope for a future where girls and boys move away from violence because their parents abandon them, force some of them to marry early and/or do not send their children to school.
I look forward to a future where girls and boys are kept away from violence and are able to have equal rights.
