Research on the needs of children living with disabilities
This study shows the need to continue funding and supporting services for Ukrainian children living with disabilities in Poland.
Plan International works together with children, young people, supporters, and partners to strive for a just world, where we are all equal.
Since March 2022, we’ve worked in Poland to deliver immediate humanitarian aid to children and their families affected by the conflict in Ukraine.
As of February 2024, more than 950,000 refugees from Ukraine are actively registered as living in Poland. Around 360,000 of them are children.
We collaborate with Polish civil society organisations who support refugees and people in need, in particular targeting children, youth and minority groups. Some of our projects include psychosocial support at youth centres, workshops and activities for young people, and education, therapy and integration support for children living with disabilities.
Our projects with our partners cover the length and breadth of Poland, delivering services in bigger cities and smaller towns, to those in need of support.
Beyond the direct life-saving humanitarian support we provide, we are partnering with local organisations to support children’s rights and equality for girls in Poland.
Our current priorities include:
Our work in Poland is part of a regional response to the Ukraine crisis which also includes programmes in Ukraine, Moldova and Romania.
