Meet Plan International Global Youth Advisory Panel (GYAP) member Sorie, aged 20, from Sierra Leone.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about advocating for girls because they are vulnerable both in Sierra Leone and globally. I am working towards gender equality and empowerment for girls. I believe this is a very meaningful global movement to add my voice to.
What do you enjoy about being on GYAP?
I enjoy being part of the GYAP because it is a platform that increases the knowledge and expertise of young people around the world. I also enjoy learning about the child and youth-led activities that are happening in the other countries where Plan International works.
Why is GYAP important?
The GYAP is important because it creates opportunities for young people to be involved in key decision-making processes that influence the direction of Plan International.
It is also important because it creates mutual respect of each other’s opinions and ideas regardless of age, race, gender, status or background.
