Plan International Nepal annual highlights 2020

This report highlights the activities and impact of Plan International Nepal's work, including our COVID-19 response, for the period covering July 2019 to June 2020.

During the period, we operated programmes in 12 districts directly benefitting 291,939 people (57% of which were girls and young women) in more than 300 communities. Indirectly, we reached more than 1.3 million people.

We continued to work together with development partners and in collaboration with the government of Nepal and stakeholders.

This year our programmes were dedicated to support vulnerable and marginalised groups, mostly girls and young women, as they were severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic. We supported them through cash transfers, raising awareness of how to prevent spreading the virus and providing health equipment and materials as preventative measures.

Before the health crisis, we oriented parents and caregivers about early stimulation and avoiding behaviour that reinforces gender stereotypes while taking care of their children. Our protection-related programmes also contributed to safe communities and strengthened government systems for safeguarding girls and young women after COVID-19 hit the most vulnerable people and communities.

We would like to thank our supporters, partners and team members for making 2020 a successful year despite the unprecedented challenges presented by the COVID -19 crisis.
