Programme Unit Manager—Nyaung-U, Mandalay

Plan International is an international humanitarian, child-centred development organisation, implementing programmes that promote the realisation and fulfilment of children’s rights and the alleviation of child poverty.

Plan International is planning to expand its work to include a child development programme in Mandalay and is seeking a Programme Unit Manager (PUM) to lead this effort. The position is based in Nyaung-U, Mandalay and will require travel to other townships in Mandalay and Yangon.

Reports to: Programme Director
Assignment duration: Three Years

Job Purpose: Establish, lead and manage Plan International Myanmar's Programme Unit in Nyaung-U, Mandalay. The PUM will play an important role as Plan International Myanmar's representative at the district and township level. He/she will ensure that projects are properly planned, budgeted and monitored in cooperation with implementing partners.

The PUM will establish a high performing team that will build the capacity of communities while implementing the child development programme. He/she will also be responsible for finance, administration and human resources at the Programme Unit level.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

Citizen of Myanmar • Minimum five years of proven experience managing integrated rural development programmes • Good knowledge of child rights and community development • Experience working with partners including partner assessment and capacity building • Experience working with child development programmes including communications advantageous • Excellent English skills • University graduate with a relevant degree • Able to work independently.
