Mr Angerer holds a University degree in Communications and Political Science, as well as a Masters in Development Management. He has been working in international development for over 25 years, starting as campaigner and advocate for development policy changes in his home country of Austria.
From there he moved to Central America, where he worked for the United Nations Development Program in El Salvador and Honduras. His experiences in RESA stem from his four year term as Country Representative for the Austrian Service for Development Cooperation in Zimbabwe and Mozambique.
In 2001, Mr Angerer joined Plan International as Country Director in Colombia, starting the first experience of fundraising in a programme country.
His subsequent assignment as Country Director in India saw him manage what was back then the largest country program in the Plan International world, and prepare the move for Plan India (together with Colombia) becoming the first Field-Country National Office.
Before his appointment as Regional Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, Mr Angerer worked as Regional Director for the Americas in Panama, focusing on improving program quality, monitoring and evaluation, strengthen local fundraising capacities and preparing Brazil to become the next FCNO.
Mr Angerer is a strong advocate of Plan’s Child-Centered Community Development approach and is convinced that a critical mass of children and young people who get the opportunity to understand and claim their rights will transform the world.
