Ingrid has 30 years of professional experience in the academic, private and development sectors in the Americas and West Africa.
Currently as Acting Regional Director for the Americas, she has been Regional Deputy Director for Operations for four years, with a challenging role contributing to the Change Journey in different areas, such as Finance, Human Resources, Sponsorship, Security, Administration, and Risk Management.
In 1995 Ingrid started her Development career with Plan in Colombia, and her first assignment was as field office manager for Plan in Cali. In 1999 she was appointed as country director for Plan in Honduras to manage the reconstruction efforts after a major disaster. Later, from 2004 – 2010 she worked as country director for Plan in Guinea-Bissau, a challenging duty stations mainly because of its post conflict situation and frail state. Enthusiastic and committed to Plan´s mission, she has worked to improve the sustainability, efficiency, effectiveness and quality of programme design and delivery.
Born in Colombia, she holds a degree in business administration from the Universidad de los Andes in Bogotá and a specialist degree in tourism management from the CDG in Germany. Her Masters in Social Development with emphasis in Education for Work was done in Paris, at UPEC University. She has also been a professor in the Universidad del Norte and the ICESI, both in Colombia, and was the General Manager of a government-corporate Joint Venture Infrastructure project.
Her proven leadership in a cross-cultural setting comes with solid language skills in Spanish, English, German and Portuguese.
