Plan International Liberia is a recognised leader in education and we are using our years of experience in the sector to champion girls’ rights to attend school and fulfil their potential.
As part of our ground-breaking Girl Power programme, we enable 300 vulnerable girls to access educational materials each year. We also provide women who missed out on an education due to Liberia’s conflict with vocational training programmes in soap making, cosmetics, tailoring and weaving.
Our Girls’ Panels meet regularly to discuss, monitor and engage with government officials and elected representatives on issues ranging from access to education and child marriage to gender-based violence. Through these powerful partnerships, girls are able to effect long lasting changes in their communities. By empowering girls to voice their opinions on matters that affect them, we hope to ensure that girls become voices for change in their communities.
Scholarships also exist for girls to obtain school uniforms, sanitation kits and school materials to ensure they can attend school.
