Every effort is rewarded. Leonor (14), a girl who belongs to the affiliate program of Plan International, is an example. For her excellent qualifications, Leonor has been selected to study at one of the High Performance Schools of the Ministry of Education in Piura. These schools select the best students in the country through a rigorous examination, and they are provided with an educational service of high competition. Leonor is thrilled to have achieved admission and dreams of getting a scholarship for college..
Leonor’s sponsor lives in Germany. They communicate through letters that are exchanged by Plan International. Leonor feels that among her motivations to be a good student, these letters have played an important role. They have broadened her horizons and goals for the future by providing experiences of another culture.
"Sometimes people believe that a public school student cannot achieve important goals or learn things properly; but that's not true. The Government trains teachers, and Plan International is also strengthening their expertise and implementing workshops for students. That is why my teachers are good and they helped me to reach this achievement."
Leonor says that she will not stop trying. When she becomes a professional, she later wants to create an NGO that provides shelter to abandoned children. The road is long, but she is willing to keep walking.
