The Organization:

Plan International is an independent development and humanitarian organisation that advances children’s rights and equality for girls.

For over 80 years actively working in around 50 developing countries, Plan International has been breaking the cycle of child poverty.  And because no country’s or community’s needs are the same, everything we do—from strengthening healthcare systems to improving the quality of education, to advocating for increased protection and beyond—is built with and owned by, the community.  The result is a development approach designed to improve the lives of the youngest members of the community for the longest period of time.  Using this approach, in 2016, Plan directly impacted 69 million people, including 32 million children, in 52 developing countries across Asia, Africa, and Latin America.

We believe in the power and potential of every child. But this is often suppressed by poverty, violence, exclusion and discrimination. And its girls who are most affected.

Working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners, we strive for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children.
