Humanitarian Project Manager (Food Distribution)

Assignment Type: Fixed term contract 12 months

Job purpose:

Plan International Myanmar is planning to expand its humanitarian efforts in partnership with the World Food Program. General food distribution will take place in 7 camps in and around Sittwe for 51,483 vulnerable IDPs and Plan International requires a Humanitarian Project Manager (Food Distribution) to lead general food distribution project.

The Project Manager’s role is to lead project activities in close coordination with the Programme Unit Manager (PUM). She/he will be responsible for:

Project planning, implementation and monitoring. 

Oversight of the project budget. 

Representation of Plan in forums and strategic events related to food assistance. 

Preparation of reports as required. 

Development of best practice guidelines.

Standardization of procedures and building staff capacity based on the guidelines. 

Design and oversight of a complaints mechanism for beneficiaries for all program components. 

Periodic spot-checks during distributions, feeding days, food distribution activities to assess challenges and identify solutions. 

Collaboration with the M&E department to track project indicators and develop solutions to keep project progress on track. 

Maintaining positive working relations with concerned government authorities, local leadership, UN agencies and camp committees 

Development of risk management plans and risk mitigation.

This position is based in Sittwe with up to 75% time in the field. This position is grant based and subject to approval of grant proposal.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:
Minimum four years of demonstrated professional experience managing substantial humanitarian projects preferably in the area of food distribution • Experience of working with IDPs/refugees • Knowledge about UN policies and procedures • Knowledge of humanitarian sector in Myanmar an advantage • Experience of working in conflict areas an advantage • Masters degree in relevant field • Excellent English language skills
