Chicken farming provides extra income for families

Plan International Honduras is supporting 400 families in Jesus de Otoro and Masaguara to create additional income through chicken farming.

Through the project “Strengthening family productive capacity”, Plan International Honduras is supporting over 400 families in Jesus de Otoro and Masaguara to establish chicken farms.

These chicken farms will be essential in increasing families’ income through the sale of eggs and meat, meaning they will have more money to provide for their children.

Chicken farming is helping families create additional income that can be used for supporting their children.

The project has been implemented by Plan International Honduras alongside the Mayors of Jesus de Otoro and Masaguara, other local officials and strategic partners.

Rosibel Barrera, 38, from Jesus de Otoro is one of the people who have benefitted from farming chickens in the region. She says, “I am grateful for the opportunity to produce eggs and chickens because this will help us in feeding my family and making more money.”
