Plan International EU Office and the European Commission are organising a takeover of EU institutional social media accounts, during the European Week of Action for Girls 2016.

The takeover will feature four girls from around the world, covering a range of issues of interest and importance to the girls participating, including gender-based violence, child marriage, political and economic empowerment, gender equality and education. The girls will show the world that they count and call for more and better investments in achieving their rights and empowerment.

WHO?

  • Radha, 21, from Bangladesh: "Everyone who is in a position of power should make a commitment to girls' rights."
  • Flavia, 15, from Brazil: "I dream of a world where girls are equal to boys."
  • Rixt, 20, from the Netherlands: "We have to encourage women and girls to become active in politics."
  • Petrider, 22, from Tanzania: "I will work for girls' rights until gender equality is reached."

HOW?

The girls will take over the social media accounts of the European Commission's International Cooperation and Development (EuropeAid) Directorate.
