Meet Plan Global Youth Advisory Panel (GYAP) member Frank, aged 21, from Uganda.
What are you passionate about?
I am passionate about making differences among young people in participation processes - through inspiring them and equipping them with skills to enable them to realise their potential.
I am passionate about being challenged with questions by elders, especially my mentor. I am also passionate about seeing young people taking the lead in participation programmes globally.
What do you enjoy about being on GYAP?
One of the things I have most enjoyed is making new friends across the world that are all passionate about the same issues. I have really enjoyed getting together for face-to-face meetings, not just for the great work we do but also the fun we make.
Why is GYAP important?
Because it engages with young people at all levels in the decision-making process, which is key to Plan’s approach. It develops and supports young people’s empowerment, including their rights to participate in decisions that affect their lives within their communities.
It also creates a forum for discussion and dialogue between young people and stake holders, which will lead to concrete recommendations and follow-up actions needed to strengthen our work with and for young people across all aspects of our mandate.
