Julieta joined Plan International in September 2017. As Policy and Advocacy Manager, she is responsible for shaping the influencing activities Plan International carries out in the EU space encompassing its advocacy, policy, communications and campaigns efforts. In her role, she is in charge of the office’s work on the next EU budget (MFF), the EU’s policy framework on Education in Emergencies and maintaining the relations with the EU Institutions. Internally, she is part of the LEAD technical network, where she contributes to the shaping of the federation’s activities to ensure the call for political participation of girls throughout our programmes and advocacy activities.
Julieta has over 10 years of experience working in research and local authorities with EU funded projects. In Brussels, she has previously worked on global and EU focused networks. There, she has acquired extensive experience in influencing decision makers and working with diverse coalitions and movements. She has contributed to the discussions on CSO development effectiveness and space for civil society; monitored and influence EU-LAC relations. She also has experience in supporting the engagement of local CSOs with the EU Delegations and developing advocacy strategies to influence the EU. Julieta has a Degree in Political Sciences and Public Administration and is specialised in human rights and EU external policies and relations with partner countries, in particular, Africa, Caribbean and Pacific and Latin America countries and civil society engagement with the EU.
